The St. Michael’s Hospital Neurocognitive Evaluation and Rehabilitation (NEAR) Clinic was established in 1994 to provide impartial, expert assessment of motor vehicle accident claimants who had sustained a suspected or identified Traumatic Brain Injury. The centre provides comprehensive assessment designed to establish the full range of impairments and rehabilitation needs of the client in order to facilitate appropriate rehabilitation interventions to maximize functional outcome.

NEAR Clinic consultants work either independently or cooperatively as a multidisciplinary team to assess a wide spectrum of functions that can be affected following a Traumatic Brain Injury. Assessments are tailored to address specific questions requested by the referring Insurer, Lawyer or Case Manager. All team members are professionally credentialled and have several years experience in the assessment and treatment of Traumatic Brain Injury patients.
