Heather Ross, OT Reg. (Ont.) Registered Occupational Therapist received her Bachelor of Science: Occupational Therapy (cum laude) in June 1994 from the University of Western Ontario. Heather has worked extensively with adults in the community providing home assessments and intervention to maximize their functional independence within their own personal environments and supports. Heather worked at the Timmins and District Hospital on the Rehab/Long term care/Continuing Care floor for two years. She worked as an Occupational Therapist for the home care program in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario from 1996 until 2008 when it was called the North East Community Care Access Centre. Heather then joined New Horizons Rehabilitation Services in November 2008. Heather works with clients within their own environments whether it is at home, nursing home, other residence or workplace in order to assist them in adapting to their functional limitations. Home adaptations, education, use of adaptive equipment may all be used to assist the clients in meeting their goals. She works with a broad range of orthopaedic injuries and neurological injuries and conditions including soft tissue injuries, trauma including multiple trauma, acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, Alzheimer disease and multiple sclerosis. Heather has an interest in wheelchair assessment and prescription including power mobility and complex custom seating. Heather is an authorizer for the Assistive Devices Program: Wheelchair, Positioning and Ambulation Aids category.
