Profile:
Christine MacPherson is the founder and owner of the MacPherson Communication Clinic (MCC). With offices in both Barrie and Orillia, the focus of MCC is to provide quality speech-language services to individuals with cognitive-communication difficulties as a result of an acquired brain injury. Christine is a duly qualified Speech-Language Pathologist, registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO). She is on the Board of Directors of the Ontario Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (OSLA), and a member of Speech Pathology Australia (SPA). After graduating in 1988 as a Speech Pathologist from Cumberland College of Health Sciences, The University of Sydney, Australia, she worked in both community and educational settings. Relocating to Canada in 1992, she was employed by The Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, Ontario, in both inpatient and outpatient settings. There she provided assessment and therapy services, primarily to adults. As well, during this time, she was a consultant to Brain Injury Services of Simcoe County. In private practice since 1995, she has a particular focus on working with school age children, adolescents and adults who have sustained an acquired brain injury (ABI). Between 1996 and 1998, she was a part time instructor at Georgian College in Orillia, teaching courses to CDA students in Child Language Development and Communication Disorders in the Adult Population. With extensive further education in the field of communication disorders, and a particular emphasis on cognitive-communication disorders following ABI, she has published on the topic of social-communication disorders and remediation.
