I have extensive experience assessing function and the impact physical, emotional, and cognitive impairments have on a person’s ability to fulfil his/her roles and responsibilities. My experience is both hospital and community based, with specific experience working with individuals experiencing chronic pain, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, orthopaedic, emotional, and cognitive disorders. I have specific expertise in the preparation of future care need and costs analysis and have qualified as an expert in the courts of Ontario in both this and in Occupational Therapy. I am a Canadian Certified Life Care Planner (CCLCP) through the International Commission on Health Care Certification and am a provider of the Assessment of Motor and Process Skills (AMPS), which is a standardized observational evaluation to evaluate the quality of a person’s performance of activities of daily living skills. A team approach is used at RMI to ensure availability of supports and quality of services.
I provide discharge support services enabling a seamless transition from hospital to home.
I have been a guest lecturer at the University of Toronto, Occupational Therapy Program on Case Management in 2012 and 2013, acted as an Expert Witness in Mock Trial Presentations at Queen’s University Law School in 2012 and 2013, co-authored, Paediatric Life Care Planning…Here’s what lawyers need to know, for The Litigator magazine. and co-presented on the development of Pediatric Life Care Plans at the Rehabilitation and Life Care Planning Symposium in London, Ontario, in 2013.
