Profile:
I am a clinical psychologist with specialities in neuropsychology and rehabilitation registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario since 1995. I completed a Ph.D. with a specialization in Neurosciences at the University of Ottawa with a research focus on the role of the frontal lobes in executive functions and memory. While completing a clinical fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital, I worked in the areas of Psychiatry (bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, personality disorders, dementia etc), Pediatric Neuropsychology (epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, anoxia, etc.) and General Adult Neuropsychology (acquired and developmental brain dysfunction, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, learning disabilities, etc.) and continued to research the frontal lobes publishing jointly with several colleagues. At the outset of my career, I worked in the community brain injury field, then joined The Ottawa Hospital – Rehabilitation Centre in Ottawa where I provided neuropsychological evaluation and neurorehabilitation services to a wide range of individuals with acquired and developmental brain dysfunction including traumatic brain injury, learning disabilities, stroke, multiple sclerosis, schizophrenia, etc.) as well as psychological treatment to individuals with varied medical conditions (spinal cord injury, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, amputation etc.).
I am also a designated capacity assessor in the Province of Ontario and have assessed the capacity of individuals to manage financial and health decisions in the face of numerous challenges to cognitive function (acquired brain injury, psychiatric illness, developmental disorders etc.). From 2000-2002, I served as a consultant to the Ministry of Health-Long Term Care/Acquired Brain Injury Network with a mandate of surveying the areas of unmet need in individuals living with acquired brain injury in the greater Ottawa-Carleton region. At the present time, I am in full-time private practice, providing neuropsychological evaluation and treatment to adolescents, adults, seniors, and families living with a wide variety of neurocognitive disorders (ADHD, learning disabilities, developmental disorders, traumatic brain injury, stroke, dementia, etc.). Services are provided within several milieus including the MVA / SABS arena, WSIB, and extended health care partners. In addition, I provide consultation and independent neuropsychological evaluations to a variety of third parties including insurance companies, lawyers, employers etc.
