Profile:
I graduated with distinction from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science, Specialist in Psychology. After completing my undergraduate degree, I became involved in post-graduate research in the psycho-biological mechanisms involved in decision making, addiction and mental health. I was very active in volunteering towards mental health initiatives in Toronto during this time. I then attended Queen’s University for my Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy (MScOT) and gained experience working with adults with psychiatric, dual-diagnosis, orthopaedic and neurological conditions in long term care, rehabilitation and in the community. I became involved in community development within Frontenac and Lennox and Addington County as well as research towards best practice for community integration initiatives. I began working as an Occupational Therapist in the community within Durham region soon after graduation and I continue to be dedicated to offering individualized assessment and treatment to clients in their homes. I have completed training towards becoming a certified calibrated AMPS Rater (Assessment of Motor and Process Skills), Strengths Based Case Management, return to work and job demands analysis, and hospice palliative care. I am currently enrolled in training for neurorehabilitation following brain injury and prescription of seating and mobility devices. I am committed to my professional development and continuing education, I hope to further my knowledge in psychotherapeutic practice in the future. I believe client-centred occupational therapy is instrumental in helping clients engage in the activities they want and need to do with respect to their self-care, productivity and leisure pursuits. I aim to provide supportive and compassionate care to all clients in need.
