Ms. Casey has worked as a Rehabilitation Counsellor for 35 years providing community-based rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities. She has worked as a Case Manager & Life Care Planner at RMI since 1988, providing services to individuals with complex traumatic injuries and catastrophic impairments – including orthopaedic, spinal cord, and traumatic brain injuries. Additional areas of expertise include the assessment of future care needs for victims of MVCs, historic sexual assault, medical and dental negligence. As a Clinical Manager and trainer, she has taught/mentored many rehabilitation professionals and has provided input/consultation services for numerous rehabilitation plans and life care plans. She has an Honours B.A. in Psychology and a M.Ed. in Adult Education & Counselling. Through the Department of Health Education, University of Florida, Ms. Casey completed a postgraduate certificate level program in Life Care Planning for persons with catastrophic disabilities and needs. She was one of the first Canadians to obtain the CLCP designation (in 2001) and subsequently provided instruction in life care planning through the Canadian Institute of Life Care Planners, Sprott School of Business, Carlton University. She has provided expert testimony in Ontario & BC.
