Mary-Ellen Thompson is a registered Speech-language Pathologist in the province of Ontario, a member of the College of Speech-language Pathologists and Audiologists of Ontario and has been working in the field of acquired brain injury for the past 20 years as a clinician, educator and researcher. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence, registration with the American Speech-language Hearing Association. Mary Ellen holds a Honours Bachelor of Science degree from McMaster University, a Master of Science degree in Experimental Psychology from McGill University, a Master of Health Science degree from the University of Toronto and a doctorate degree from the University of Toronto, Institute of Medical Science. She has worked collaboratively with many multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive models of rehabilitation. Currently, she is president of the Brain Injury Association Quinte District and a member of the Research to Practice Network for Adults with ABI sponsored by the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation. As well, Mary-Ellen has presented on topics related to acquired brain injury both locally and nationally. In 2010, she was awarded "Professional of the Year" by the Ontario Brain Injury Association for "outstanding contribution to improving the lives of those living with the effects of acquired brain injury."
