Allen is a Registered Physical Therapist and a Kinesiologist. In addition to his degree in Physical Therapy, he has an honours degree in Physical Education with a focus on athletic injuries and exercise physiology. He has completed his diploma in Advanced Manual and Manipulative Therapy and is a member of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy. Allen is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and is trained in intramuscular stimulation (IMS). Allen recently opened Evolution Physiotherapy in Kanata (Ottawa), ON. Previously, he worked for 10 years at the Nepean Sports Medicine and Physiotherapy Centre in Ottawa, ON. He also worked for 2 years at The Sports Medicine Specialists in Toronto, ON, and was a physiotherapy assistant for 7 years at the Fowler Kennedy Sports Medicine Clinic in London, ON. Throughout his career, Allen has worked with amateur and professional athletes from a variety of sports, including golf, hockey, and baseball. He was the Athletic Therapist for the 1995 University of Western Ontario Mustangs hockey team and has provided medical coverage for various events (marathons, figure skating championships, baseball championships, hockey tournaments). Allen’s areas of expertise include manual therapy, fitness and functional assessments, exercise prescription and program design, and sport specific fitness programs. Allen has been a FitforeGolf therapist and Sports Physiotherapist since 1999. Allen has been a Credentialed ImPACT Consultant (CIC), used in concussion management decision making, since 2008. Allen recently became a Titleist Performance Institute Certified Golf Fitness Instructor. Allen teaches post-graduate physiotherapy courses as an instructor for the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. Allen’s interests include hockey, baseball, golf, running, and fitness training. He has been involved in both recreational and competitive athletics throughout his life, with the highlight being a member of a Canadian Championship Baseball Team.
